Home again, home again, jiggity jig

Though I’ve been absent for but a month, it’s good to see Melbourne once more. There has been an armed robbery in the city near Richmond, interrupting all trains running towards Flinders Street. The tram from Caulfield consequently overflows. Hindi pop springs from the phone of an Indian undergraduate - and a bloke behind them turns out to have the Vic bitter theme on his mobile.
A church spire rises up near St Kilda and I feel like pulling out my camera and shooting it against the pale blue sky. Steam rises from some exhaust fan on the top of a building in the CBD like the industrial streets of New York City. New decorations - stencil letters strung out across the moat - litter the facade of NGV International. Morning fog disperses above Melbourne and a cold but bright winter’s afternoon sky reveals itself. I’m back.
